The best thing money can buy

To me, the best use of money is buying my freedom. Specifically, the autonomy to use my time however I choose. Working only on projects I choose to work on Spending time with a friend in the middle of a workday Going for a long walk whenever it’s sunny outside These are the best things I ever bought with my money. And I wonder, why don’t we get the freedom, autonomy, and flexibility we could have right now, and instead buy cars and houses and other stuff that only makes our lives more expensive?...

What's your money motivation?

Since I’m writing this series of articles about money, I spend a lot of time thinking about my motivations behind money. And I’ve realized I should share with you my personal preferences because context is important. My opinions are bound to what I want in life – my needs and values. So even though I had something else planned for today, I want to talk about this: How can we prevent bad days from snowballing into a disaster?...

Finding yourself as you go

I want to share with you my struggle today. Even after two years of writing, I still sometimes don’t know what this site is about. The symptom is that I keep rewriting my bio every few weeks. It just doesn’t feel accurate. Because of that, I often get demotivated to share my work anywhere because my brain hates ambiguity. It likes when things fit into clearly labeled boxes before they get presented to the world....

Creative routine: How to do your best work as a creator

I’m fascinated by how different people with different personalities get their creative work done. That’s why I read the book Daily Rituals – How Artists Work by Mason Currey. It’s a catalog of 161 writers, painters, architects, filmmakers, and others who have spent their lives making a living as professional creators. The book asks good questions: How to do meaningful creative work while also earning a living? How to make the time each day to do your best work?...
